Wenhaston is a remote beautiful village of England, situated to the south of River Blyth in the northeastern part of Suffolk. The area which falls on the east of Wenhaston is designated as an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’ rolling down to the estuary of the River Blyth. Most housing lines fall to the south of the River Blyth.
The railway track ran from Halesworth to Southwold and was covered with beautiful flowers. The railway track was seized as a more convenient motor bus was developed. However, the flowers are still there to be admired on the open heathland covering the village.

Roman coins, building material and pottery were unearthed from the local fields of this village indicating that the settlement at Wenhaston dates from the Roman period (1st Century AD). The first record of this medieval settlement was found in the Doomsday Survey in 1086. The name Wenhaston basically means ‘Wynhaeth’s Town’. From the artefacts discovered in this village, Wenhaston proved to be a market settlement of great importance. The traces of medieval history can be seen in the designs of buildings and the historical treasures of Wenhaston.

Today the economy and local community of Wenhaston benefits from its nearness to the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Wenhaston won the Suffolk Coast Village award in 2004 and was the runners-up for Suffolk County Competition. The village of Wenhaston has gained popularity in recent years due to its medieval history and elegant benchmarks.

The greatest village treasure is unquestionably the Wenhaston Doom which is a 16th century Pre-Reformation panel painting depicting a scene of the Last Day of Judgment.  It was discovered in 1892 and since then, it has been the source of attraction for tourists.

Another landmark of Wenhaston is St Peter’s Parish Church. The church dates from the 10th century and contains a notable relic of the Doom. The building’s medieval design has attracted many tourists to this mesmerizing town in recent years.

The Playingfield is home to many sports practiced in Wenhaston. Table Tennis is practiced by the youngsters and the elder people as well. A table tennis club has been established for this purpose. Badminton is played on a large scale by the residents of Wenhaston. A group of people gather for friendly matches mostly on Mondays. The Wenshaston United Football Club has been established to promote sports in Wenhaston.
