Several hundred years later, Stansfield was included in Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales by John Marius Wilson in 1870. The village was described as a part of the Risbridge district, with 109 houses and a population of 549 people.

Throughout the 1800s, a large portion of the population in Stansfield were engaged in agriculture (either as farmers or farm labourers). A smaller number of people worked in other industries like retail and handicrafts, and only a handful were considered to be professionals and capitalists.
