Bredfield is a small village that is located in the county of Suffolk.  Even though the village is small, there are plenty of activities available for the entire community. The village hall boasts a playing field, tennis court and a bowls club. There is even a community shop that offers many local products. 

The historic Bredfield House was the birthplace of poet Edward Fitzgerald and the building received extensive damage during World War II. The house has been described as charmless, but it was located in a nice park with gardens, ponds, stables and kennels.  Unfortunately the house has been demolished due to the damage from the war. 

A non-denominational chapel was built in 1902 and there is also a historic parish church called St. Andrew’s that dates back to the 13th century. The Castle Inn public house has been located in the village since 1808 and is an integral part of the social life within the village. The village is not large enough to keep a school open anymore, so the school that opened in 1853 closed in 1986. 

There is a forge located in Bredfield where blacksmiths used to work mending farm equipment and shoeing horses. Currently the business makes ornamental metalwork like gates. These gates can be found in 21 different countries.

Jubilee Meadow and Orchard was formally known as glebe land.  Glebe land used to belong to the parish church and the rents from the land paid the parish priest’s salary. Jubilee Meadow and Orchard is located on the field that was known as Winding Field. In a Parish Plan of 2006, it was determined that the land should never be developed in the future. The area is rich in wildlife, orchids and other flowers. In 2011, the Suffolk Wildlife Trust discovered much interesting flora on the land and is currently supporting the development of conserving the area as well as a community orchard.
