Balloch Castle and Country Park - The Balloch Castle has gone through extreme highs and lows over the years. The original structure was built in 1808 as a residence by the architect Robert Lugar. What was left of it is a mound that formed part of its moat. Now, the current castle, which functioned as a visitors’ centre and headquarters of the Countryside Ranger Service in the park, also lies derelict, with just the castle grounds in full use. It has a walled garden with trees, shrubs, and Balloch flowers.

The country park, on the other hand, offers visitors picnic lawns, nature trails and other areas perfect for guided walks. It is also the host of the annual Balloch Highland games that are held each summer. PS Maid of the Loch - She’s not an attraction per se, but a paddle steamer that you should see with your own eyes. After all, it’s the last one built in Britain, and was in operation in Loch Lomond for 29 years. It’s a good thing that it’s under restoration in the Balloch pier, so future generations would still have a chance to see it.
