History

The village suffered some more when the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway wasn't extended to Watlington.

Today, Benson thrives as a commuter village despite its lack of a railway station and its distance from both the M4 and M40.

Visit the Benson Veteran Cycle Collection. Although coming here is by appointment only, this is where you can see a collection of veteran and vintage cycles dating back from 1818 to 1825.

Go on a self-guided historic walk. There are lots of historic sites to see depending on how far along you want to walk in Benson. You can pass by the River Thames, a Saxon Court, the War Grave Cemetery, the War Memorial and the White Hart and coaching area.

Watch the boats on the river. A marina is located on the edge of the village where you can hang out at the cafe and watch the boats.
