History

The earliest known record of Adderbury is from the middle of the 10th century. The village's name has had several spelling changes but it's listed in the Domesday Book as Edburgberie which means “Eadburg's town.”

Former Society of Friends meeting house – located in West Adderbury, this building was constructed in 1675 for Bray Doyley. Today, the structure is used for special meetings of Friends as well as a waiting room for the adjoining cemetery of the Parish Council.

New Collage tithe barn – built for New College, Oxford. Located near St Mary's, the building can be traced back to the 14th century. Today, the structure is Grade I listed.

Adderbury House – a 17th-century country house located in East Adderbury. It was owned by Henry Wilmot, 1st Earl of Rochester, who fought on the Royalist side during the English Civil War.
