The small village of Hepscott is located in Northumberland, which is a county in England. It is about two miles away from the county town of Morpeth and the River Wansbeck. The name “Hepscott” originates from the Anglo-Saxon period of English history and is a derivation of the old name “Shepherd’s Cote.” For most of Hepscott’s history, it was just a hamlet that contained few residents. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the hamlet actually expanded itself to the point where it officially became a small village. Some people think Shepherd’s Cote describes how the former hamlet used to be a shepherd’s homestead during the early part of the medieval period. When she was born it was merely a place of farming. Then the village survived a German air bombing by the Luftwaffe during World War II. In the 1970s, Hepscott doubled in size and continued to slowly grow over the years until it became the village it is today.
