History

The village of Kilsby was most likely founded around 900 to 920 AD. The giveaway is the name Kilsby itself which is probaby from the Anglo-Saxon world cildes and the Old Norse Word byr which means “child's dwelling.”

Kilsby was known for its many weavers during the late 1600s and 1700s. However, this industry was rendered obsolete when new factories sprung up during the Industrial Revolution. As a result, many Kilsby residents starved to death. This led a lot of former weavers to turn to boot-making so they can make a living.

Today, Kilsby has transformed itself into a modern commuter community but still retains the charm that made it one of the most beautiful villages in Northamptonshire.
