HISTORY

According to the Domesday Book, the Viking Gamel Bern was the landowner of Threshfield as well as Grassington. The village then became part of the lands of Gilbert Tison after the Norman Conquest of England. But when Tison suffered a demotion in 1118, his lands were returned to the king and were then given to Percy, Ramilly, Fitz John and d'Aubigny.

One of the oldest buildings in the village, The Old Hall, is a Georgian inn that was built by monks and is reputed to be the oldest inhabited building in Wharfedale. Threshfield was also part of a huge deer park in the 16th century.

Historically, Threshfield was a township in the parish of Linton in the West Riding of Yorkshire. In 1866, it became a separate civil parish and was then transferred to North Yorkshire in 1974.
