There have been a few prehistoric artefacts collected from excavations in the parish, such as two Bronze Age axeheads, Paleolithic handaxes, Neolithic flint axehead, Iron Age pottery fragments, Roman coins, and a Late Bronze Age spearhead. There were also Middle and Late Saxon objects found close to the village, which suggests that there has been a settlement in or close to the village since the Middle Saxon period.  

In the Domesday Book of 1086, Kettlestone was called 'Ketlestuna', an English word which means 'Ketil's farmstead'. It was held by William of Warenne. Today, there are still several post medieval buildings located in the parish, and some of these are included in the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architecture or Historic Interest in the United Kingdom.

1. Listed Buildings in Kettlestone

If you're a history buff or just enjoy old architecture, you can visit Church Farm, Kettlestone House, Barn at Old Barnhouse, Manor House, and Wavertree House. Of course, you shouldn't miss the Church of All Saints, which is believed to date back to the 13th century. It is made of the local flint stone and has an octagonal tower, which was unusual for churches in Norfolk since they usually have square towers. All Saints was extensively restored in the Victorian Period.
