·    Portland Basin Museum – housed within the restored 19th-century Ashton Canal Warehouse in Ashton-under-Lyne. The museum has modern interiors and is set in a peaceful canal-side setting. It's a family friendly museum where you can find a temporary exhibition and a trip to the past.

·    Gallery of Costume – one of the largest collection of clothing and fashion accessories are housed here. The gallery is home to more than 20,000 items which were worn by men, women and children from the 17th century up to the present day. Most of the clothes represent the high fashion of the day. There are items that represent basic dress as well. The gallery is housed in Platt Hall, an 18th-century textile merchant's home.
