There was “Abbot,” “Abbatis,” and then finally “Abbotts.” In 1531, the ownership of the manor was granted to a woman named Anne Boleyn, who was the 2nd wife of King Henry VIII and later got executed for adultery. In 1559, the manor would be passed on to Edward Baeshe by Queen Elizabeth. It would remain in his family for hundreds of years.
