HISTORY

In 941, King Edmund granted seven hides in TISTED to his faithful follower Ethelgeard. By the time of the Domesday Survey, West Tisted belonged to the bishopric of Winchester, and the manor was also held by the bishop until the beginning of the 13th century.

Several members of the Limesi family held lands in West Tisted during the 12th and 13th centuries. Although they owned several lands in the village, it wasn't as large as the one held by the Tisteds.

The Tisteds then married into the Tichborne family, who were the last known owners of the manor in the 16th century.
