Pantperthog is a tiny hamlet located in the southern Gwynedd area of Wales. Gwynedd is one of the least populated regions of the country. The Centre of Alternative Technology features several kilometres of unchanged green forest. It has several paths that can be traversed, from simple to challenging. The most challenging walk runs over 9.7 km, and has a steep grade. Along the path you will see the slopes of Tarren y Gesail, which is shaped like a pyramid. There are craggy mountain faces which will guide your way through the forest. The forest features broadleaved trees, streams, and an old slate quarry that can be viewed on route. There is a bus stop close to the forest. 

The Dyfi Forest runs along one side of Pantperthog, and has kilometres of green shrubbery and trees. The village has a strong forestry industry connection. Another forest, the Esgair Forest, near the rear of the village, claims to be the only organic forest in the UK.

The Corris Railway passes through the village. The closest station is just north of Pantperthog, in Llwyngwern. The A487 trunk road serves drivers who wish to get to Machynlleth and Dolgellau. The village has six bus stops to get around town.

Residents may enjoy cycling the Cli-Machx mountain bike track, which is located close by in the village of Esgairgeiliog.
