The town of Edgware has a rich history that is steeped deep in England’s medieval past. Edgware is a combination of two names. It is a Saxon name. In the past it was used to refer to Ecgi’s weir. Ecgi was a notable person, probably a Lord, and his people used to go to the weir (generally means pond) to catch fish. Unfortunately, Ecgi as an individual has been long forgotten and little (if any), information remains about him.

Over many years the town slowly came to evolve to become Edgware town. The area was mostly forest until the 13th century, when it changed and became a mixed agriculture town, which lasted until the 16th century, when the town started to become more of a trading town than an agricultural one.
