Fetter Lane is a street in the ward of Farringdon Without in the City of London. It is part of the A4 road that runs between Fleet Street and runs between Fleet Street on the southern end and New Fetter Lane which continues north towards Holborn Circus.

1312 marks the earliest year when the street “Faitereslane” was mentioned. The name of the street had several different spellings, and it was only around 1612 when it was settled.

In the 1590s, a gibbet was installed at the junction of Fleet Street and Fetter Lane. Christopher Bales – a Catholic priest and martyr – was one of the many that was hanged there. Thomas Hobbes – an English philosopher best known for his work on political philosophy – lived in Fetter Lane in 1651.

The Socialist Party of Great Britain was founded in Bartlett's Passage, which is off Fetter Lane, in 1904. The Daily Mirror was initially located in Geraldine House from 1920 to 1961 then moved to the north end of Fetter Lane and remained there until 1990.

In 1988, a statue of John Wilkes was erected at the location where Fetter Lane joins New Fetter Lane.

Temple Church – This structure sits within the inner Temple of the Inns of Court, and as the spiritual and actual home of the Knights Templar. The church is one of the oldest churches in London despite its association with the Templars.

Inns of Court and Royal Courts of Justice – These are great examples of Gothic architecture that date back to the 14th century.

Hunterian Museum – This is located within the Royal College of Surgeons and boasts of a lot of enlightening, gallery (both permanent and temporary) and exhibitions.

Postman's Park – located north of St Paul's Cathedral, the garden is a very peaceful and tranquil refuge in the midst of the financial district in London. The sight of Fetter Lane flowers and other greens made the park a really popular place back in the day for local workers to spend breaks.

Jubilee Gardens – is a public park on the South Bank in the London. It was created to mark the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II in 1977.

Phoenix Garden – is a local community garden in central London that was established in 1984. It is a sight for many flowers in Fetter Lane, and in fact, it won the first prize for Best Environmental Garden in the Camden in Bloom competition six times in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010.
