Hooke is a tiny village located in the county of Dorset in the south part of England. This village is also a civil parish and is it situated very close (about 7 miles) north of the town of Bridpot. This is also the place where the River Hooke goes through and the area where the village is situated is considered to be one of the most interesting valleys in this part of England. It is surrounded by picturesque hills of the Dorset Downs – an area of chalk downland.
Hooke is divided in two parts – the north part which is situated around a large pond and the south part situated on a more flat terrain. It is unknown when this area was settled for the first time, but what is known is that Hooke was mentioned in many medieval written documents from the 14th and 15th century. Of course, back in those days, Hooke was just a regular Dorset village with one church and people who were mostly engaged in agriculture.

These gardens are located on three different levels and they are part of a Tudor manor/house reconstructed in the 17th century. This is the place where visitors can see an orangery, several summerhouses and fishponds too. It is ideal for families with children.
