Thus, what happened during that day is re-enacted each year.

Tar Barrels

This is an old tradition that has been observed for hundreds of years. Here, barrels on fire are carried on the heads of men, women and children as they parade on the streets. Its history can be traced back to the gun powder plot in 1605 and is held every 5th day of November.
