This beautiful church was built by the famous Paley and Austin architects from Lancaster. Today, this is a very active Anglican parish church that belongs to the diocese of Carlisle. What is interesting about this church is the exterior built in red sandstone and decorated with ashlar dressings. It features interesting slate roofs too. In the church yard, visitors can see a memorial dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the Boer War. St, George’s Church is a Grade II listed building.
