Of course, Marston Green was not always a big village, but people lived in this area since ancient times. In the beginning, Marston Green was a tiny village located on a fertile agricultural land that was part of the estate of Coleshill. Back in these days, this village was called Merstone and it was mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Marston Green was a typical English village until the late 19^th century when the rapid growth of this region started. During the Second World War, the Canadian troops used an airforce base in this area. The facilities were destroyed in the 1990s.

Marston Green was part of many different parishes throughout history, but today it is part of Bickenhill civil parish.

St. Leonard’s’ Church

This is a relatively new church (compared to the other churches in this region). It was built in 1938 and it is located in Elmdon Road. The designers have used a typical basilica style for the church and you can easily recognize it because they’ve used tall red-brownish bricks as a material. It features tall arched windows, side aisles and chancel.  It is worth mentioning that there was an older chapel which was demolished due to certain circumstances, but there are many mementos from this old chapel used in St. Leonard’s church like the bell, a church bench and even a tablet where you can see the names of the people from this area that died during the First World War.
