This Aberdeenshire village was first granted to Sir Archibald Douglas in 1324 and he had complete control over the lands. It was one of the areas that they stopped in while they were venturing to meet Andrew de Moray, another rebel commander. Crimond was also frequently used during World War II as the Royal Naval Air Station Merganser set up post quite close to the village. There was also a military camp known as Logie Camp. Over the years Crimond was where displaced families would go until more modern housing began to get built during the 50s.
