In yesterday's CF blog we explored a few flowers which are blooming naturally in the wild, despite it only being January.
But what if you want to create this effect for yourself, without having to rely on the whims and vagaries of nature? What are the best plants to put in your garden for a fantastic display of January blooms?
Here, let us show you...
1 - Iris unguicularis - angustifolia
A beautiful iris that's a lot tougher than it looks! This iris will need some winter sunshine to really get it going, though.
2 - Witch Hazel - Hamamelis intermedia 'Diane'
Red will really stand out in a winter garden, as we tend to associate light flowers such as snowdrops with the winter months. This vibrant witch hazel will liven up your January garden no end!
3 - Honeysuckle - Lonicera x purpusii
What could smell sweeter than a garden of winter honeysuckle?
Happy (winter) gardening! And do feel free to comment or send us pictures if you have any fabulous winter flowers you'd like to show off.
