With well over 250 thousand types of flowers in the world, and many thousands more waiting to be discovered here at Clare Florist we have looked into the most rare flowers in the world, and what makes them so special.

Jade's Vine

This elegant looking flower can be found in the Philippines, and is one of the most beautiful and rare flowers currently growing. This flower can be found in the Philippine rainforests and is actually a part of the pea and bean family, related to Kidney beans!

The wood vine is decorated with small flowers which look like small claws and can grow up to 3 meters long. This flower is seen as an endangered species due to the forest habitat being destroyed,.

Franklinia Plant

Originally classed as extinct in the early 19th century, the Franklinia tea plant is a very rare, yet attractive tree which can only be found at the Bartram's Garden in Philadelphia. The plant features beautiful fragrant white blooms with leaves which turn bright red during Autumn, and the plant has a smell reminiscent of honeysuckle. Once established this plant can live up to a century or more!

Kokai Cookei

The Kokia Cookei is a delicate, tree planet which is considered as one of the rarest plant species in the world, and also one of the most endangered plants out there. Originally classed as extinct in the 1950s, they were later found in the 1970, only to be destroyed by a fire in 1978. Luckily a branch from the plant was saved which was grafted onto the Kokia Kauaiensis plant to help keep the species going.
