Facts to brighten up your Thursday

With us being close to the end of the week, our brains are tired, were looking forward to the weekend and in need of some mental stimulation. Here are some facts, figures, challenges and general fun to keep us all occupied for one more day.

 The Worlds Largest Flower

As mentioned in a previous post this week, the Titan Arum, the worlds smelliest flower is also the worlds largest flower when considering its multiple  flowers, with the tallest bloom in cultivation   being 3.1 m high and the leaf structures reaching 6 metres tall and 5 metres across. Its one pretty big plant.

The Worlds Longest Orchid Vine

The longest orchid vine species is Vanilla planifolia. With a native habitat of Central America it can grow to around 100 feet in length or 30.5 metres!

Did you Know……..

Tulip bulbs can be used in cooking instead of onions (however its not advised!) and that Brocolli is the only Vegetable that is a flower
